Repairing a dolls house chair
Repairing small items can be tricky and often requires adhesives that allow for flexible fixing times. The newly re-launched Araldite® Professional adhesive range, with its customer friendly eco-packaging, offer a wide selection of glues to bond most materials, including metal, wood, glass, ceramics, leather, cardboard, fabric, rubber and most plastics.
Here we show you how to repair a delicate dolls house chair in easy, step-by-step instructions, using Araldite ® Standard to achieve a top quality repair that will last.
Make sure you have everything you need before you start your repair. We recommend you wear protection gloves.
Rub down the affected area with fine sandpaper to prepare the surface.
Clean the prepared area with turpentine oil or white spirit to take away any remaining particles and ensure the perfect surface for your repair.
Using Araldite® Standard depress the plunger to dispense equal amounts of both components onto a clean disposable surface. Refit the cap to close the nozzle (located in the handle).
Mix thoroughly with the spatula provided for at least 30 seconds until well mixed. Araldite® Standard remains usable for 90 minutes.
Use a cocktail stick to apply a thin layer of Araldite® Standard to the surface.
Assemble the parts, applying firm pressure to the joint.
Masking tape is a good way of holding the parts in place until the bond sets firm. Cut small pieces of tape, apply to the repair and leave for at least 4 hours.
Paint the repaired area and allow it to dry fully. Repaint the entire chair to get the best overall affect.
