Richard Roberts used Araldite® Crystal to fix this amazing structure to its base. The sculpture is made of gaffer glass which has a high lead content and Araldite® Crystal proved to be the perfect solution to ensure a strong and effective bond.
Richard Roberts is currently studying for an MA in Design & Applied Arts (glass) at Wolverhampton University. He is based in Walsall, West Midlands and was determined to explore the world of glass after seeing a glass blowing demonstration at the Red House Cone Glass Museum, Stourbridge. He subsequently studied glass at the International Glass Centre, Dudley College for two years. Although he has practiced glass blowing, he has specialised in creating glass sculptures using kiln casting techniques. These are similar to the metal lost wax process which he has used for many years in his bronze sculptures. He also attended a Foundation in Art & Design at High Wycombe Polytechnic and studied a BA Hon's in Fine Art Sculpture at the Norwich School of Art.
